The chairman, Board of Trustees, Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Prince (Dr) Paul Adelabu has announced the sudden death of a distinguished women leader in Nigeria Disability community. Mrs Sarah Akinola, a blind TV presenter with NTA Ibadan via “Beyond the bridge” by Barr Adekanmbi, is dead.
Prince Paul confirmed the sad lose in a statement sent to our correspondent on Thursday.
His statement read: “On behalf of all people with disabilities in the Southwest zone, and Oyo State in particular, we announce with regret, the sudden death of one of our distinguished women leader in Nigeria disability community, Mrs Sarah Akinola, a woman of excellence”
“She was one of our great women and contributed much to the growth of our cherished umbrella organization, JONAPWD. An untiring advocate, human rights activist, public commentator on issues of disability, and TV presenter per excellence. Akinola was also an expert in brailing of books for our visually students, a WAEC and JAMB brailist of exam questions, and to cap it all, she was a good staff of the Bank of Agriculture through which she facilitated opportunities for some of our people. Without doubt, her demise leaves a huge void in the local Disability community”.
According to the statement, burial arrangements shall soon be announced by the family. May her soul rest in perfect peace.
