The Nigerian National Association of the Deaf has been asked to consider hosting the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association in Bauchi State as its top officials visited Bauchi State Agency for Persons with Disabilities.
In a statement signed by Alhamdu Yakubu, the State’s Deaf Association Secretary General, the request was made on Saturday, at the meeting where the NNAD National Vice President, Haruna Muhammed, called at the Disability Agency to deliver a congratulatory letter to the newly appointed Chairman, Ibrahim Mohammed.
The Vice President tasked the incoming Disability Agency Chairman to, as a matter of necessity, appoint a Special Assistant for effective and efficient running of the Agency.
He appealed to Deaf members in the State to cooperate with the chairman to ensure smooth administration. He also advised the Chairman to embrace everyone in discharging his tasks and prayed to God (ALLAH) to give him wisdom and courage to perform commendably.
The National Assistant Secretary General of NNAD, Comr. Sagir Ibrahim Tilde, on his part, appealed to Deaf members in the State to unite toward achieving their goals. He further urged the NNAD National headquarters to consider granting Bauchi State the hosting rights to next year’s AGM.
The new Chairman of the Agency Comr. Ibrahim Mohammed sincerely appreciated the National body of the Deaf for the courtesy visit while promising to work hand in hand with it and other PWDs Organizations within and outside the State for the betterment of all Persons with Disabilities in the State, and Nigeria at large. He round up his speech with a prayer to Almighty Allah to grant everyone present there safe journey to their various destinations.
Others dignitaries present at the meeting were Northeast NNAD Zonal Coordinator, Bashir Usman Kellumi, Comr. Abdullahi Ismail Ibrahim, National Chairman, UPPT Media Team, Tasiu Zubairu, former Assistant Director at the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, Bauchi State, Adamu Bala, former National Financial Secretary, NNAD, Alhamdu Yakubu, JONAPWD Bauchi State PRO, Mukhtar Umar, representative of the Agency and Deaf Muslims and Christians, amongst many others.
