Mohammed Abba Isa, Senior Advocate for Disability Rights and Inclusive Development, along with the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, NCPWD James Lalu, in commemoration of the second year anniversary of the passage of Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities Act, has called on stakeholders in the Disability community to sustain the struggle in working towards success of the Disability Commission.
The duo issued the encouragement at event organized by the Center for Citizens with Disabilities (CDC) to celebrate the historical landmark of the Nigeria disability community. COVID-19 Protocols were strictly observed at the event.
Part of Abba Isa’s speech read: “On behalf of my humble self and the entire community of Persons with Disabilities in the Northeast, I wish to commemorate with 31 million fellow Nigerians with Disabilities on the second year anniversary of the passage of Nigerians with Disabilities Act and establishment of National Disability Commission, NCPWD by President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR.
“My Special appreciation goes to the Center for Citizens with Disabilities as lead Disability Consortium, for always being committed to championing the cause of Disability movements in line with the UN treaties.”
“Thank also, Mr. President, may Allah SWA see us through sustaining the struggle.”
Recall President Muhammadu Buhari, (GCFR) assented the National Disability Act on 17th January 2018 to mark a new chapter in the struggle to end discrimination against Persons with Disabilities while according due dignity to PWDs in the society.
