INN reports that the empowerment training which started two weeks ago is designed to last for six months under the tutelage of Her Excellency’s pet project, “Jewel Care Foundation”. The Foundation is a platform for equipping youths and women with various entrepreneurial skills, while at same time providing social and economic supports to vulnerable citizens of the State.

Adamu stressed that students with disabilities would be equipped with computer literacy in various skills including Ms word office, Excel, presentations, spreadsheet, memo, word processing, etc, for a period of six months.

“This training is very important to the students as it will go a long way to enhance their access to ICT information and education in this digitalized era.
The training will further improve learning potentials and equip the students with manipulative entrepreneurial skills for achieving self-reliance” Mallam Shuaibu added.

Abdullah Adamu Awak, Pesident, Joint Students with Disabilities, (JSWD), thanked the First Lady for the gesture and prayed Almighty Allah to bless and reward her for identifying with the plights of disabled students in the institution. He noted this is the second time the kind-hearted First Lady will be touching the hearts of students with disabilities in the institution.

Awak used the occasion to call on Her Excellency and other philanthropist in the state to extend similar gesture to students with disabilities at the Federal college of Education (Tech ) Gombe, stressing that students at the Federal College of Education (Tech) Gombe outnumbered those in the State University – and have been long neglected.
