Gov. Obiano set up committee on procurement of assistive equipments for Anambrians with disability

Office of the Governor on Disability Matters said Governor Willie Obiano has set up excos-adhoc committee for the procurement of assistive equipments including guide canes for the Blind and the visually impaired in the state.

The special adviser to the governor on disability matters, Barrister Chuks Ezewuzie said this in a virtual meeting while addressing members of persons with disabilities who were on awareness walk to mark world white safety cane day.

The awareness walk served as a way of sensitizing and enlightening the general public on the significance of the White Guild Cane and the importance of it to the blind and the visually impaired persons in the society. Etiquettes on the best way to relate and interact with the blind and the visually impaired were also given the to the public.

A statement seen by Inclusive News Network said this is the first time National Association of the Blind, Anambra Chapter is celebrating the White Safety Cane Day while this is the 16th nation and 56th international annual celebration of White Safety Cane Day. White Cane serves as an aid to the blind and the visually impaired persons which help them to navigate the way.
