Ability in Disability Economic Empowerment Initiative (AIDEEI), a Non-Government Organization has urged President Buhari to provide security for Persons with Disabilities against activities of miscreants hijacking peaceful demonstrations of #EndSARS, #EndPoliceBrutality Nigerians. The group also called for more employment slots for Persons with Disabilities.
Recently, the group held a 3-day program organized in the three senatorial districts, viz: Badagry Local Government, Badagry West Local Development Area and Olorunda Local Development Area. Themed “Hope for all”, the event had in attendance some 678 Persons with Disabilities.
In an interview with Inclusive News Network, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AIDEEI, Mrs.Jummai Fidelia Omotosho explained that alot of Persons with Disability (In Badagry) do not know what government is all about, they do not know what government is doing, or is about to do for them. She added that Ability in Disability was birthed to bring most of them out of their ignorance and to inspire hope by telling them they are not disabled but able.
“Government should do more for PWDs in terms of employment and security for all PWDs. All the PWDs should wake up and stop looking down on each other”
When asked to comment on the #EndSARS protests, she said “The issue of EndSARS is not our business, what I will advice is they should, pls stay away.”
The group said it’s looking towards celebrating The International Day of PWDs on December 3rd for Badagrians with Disability.
Earlier, patron of the organization, Dr. Ashiru had stated during the event that Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) is open to all PWDs in Badagry, adding that any PWD can go there to register as a member of LASODA, she also pled for a LASODA office in Badagry.
