#EndSARS Protests: NNAD advises Deaf youths to refrain from violence and possible added Disability.

The Nigeria National Association of the Deaf (NNAD) has advised Deaf youths to refrain from the acts of violence ravaging some Nigerian States as a result of the #EndSARS and #BetterGovernance protests.

In a statement released on Wednesday, NNAD National Youth Leader, Ebuka Okeke said though he supports the peaceful youth action to #EndSARS, #EndPoliceBrutality and bring reform to the country, he’s worried over the general safety of the populace.

While saluting the courage of Deaf youths involved in the protests, Comrade Okeke expressed particular concern that their inability to hear exposes them to greater danger, and possibly added Disability.

“I am obliged to advise you all, especially the Deaf community (youths), to beware of joining those violent thugs and also steer clear off some of those protest ground that will put you in harm’s way.”

“with your inability to hear, it could result in a scenario where terrible things could happen, leading to another added disability. I am therefore using this to implore you all to exercise restrain and stay away from those harmful protests for safety reasons.”

“Be a good citizen and set an example to your family and country by embarking on only peaceful protest.” He affirmed
