Sports Council to Assist in the Development of Deaf Sports in Osun

Osun State Deaf Sports Association Members

Osun State Sports Council has agreed to assist Deaf sports development in Osun with office space, funding and relevant sponsorships.

The Council made the remark during a courtesy visit to its office by Osun State Deaf Sports Association.

Osun State Deaf Sports Association Chairman, Mr. Opawole Dare, in his address appealed to the Council to provide office space, funds and allowances for smooth running of the Association; Equipments and other needs.

In his response, the Acting General Manager of the Council, Rotimi Dunmoye promised to provide office space for the association after the completion of the building of the Osogbo Township Stadium.

He advised the group to bring official invitation for Sport activities for budgeting considerations.

He also welcomed Invitation letters of their AGM/ National Meetings, Conferences, Workshops etc for Sports Body from across Nigeria Deaf Sports Federation. The Deaf sports Community were to officially notify the Council for sponsorship so that they could participate in the programmes.

Dunmoye however stated that proof of official invitation letters must be attached as evidence for authentication.

Additionally, Dunmoye asked the group to attach letters of official invitations, lists of participants of any event for necessary actions.

The group is expected to train and play a football match at Osogbo City Stadium by 6:30am on Saturday.

The group has called on all interested participants in the Deaf Community to participate in the sporting activities.

“We promise to consider most of you who are very qualified and abled if you are interested in Sports.” The group said.

The visiting group comprised Lawal Rasidat, Chairperson of the Osun State Deaf Women Association; Mr Obawale Raphael who represented Mr. Lawal Basiru; and Miss Hameed Mariamo from Ikirun amongst others.
