by Sejoro Ekundayo

Chidi Olujie, a Presidential Candidate for the forthcoming election of the Nigeria Association of the Deaf (NNAD), has promised employment and scholarship for Deaf Youths in Nasarawa and North Central Zone.

He made the promise during his campaign rally for United, Peace and Progress Team (UPP-T) North-Central Zone campaign rally of Nigeria National Association of the Deaf (NNAD) held in Lafia, Nasarawa state on Tuesday.

Chidi who said he was asked why he wanted to contest when he has everything he needed and should leave it for others, however hinted that he loves the Deaf and wanted to sacrifice himself for the association.

Chidi, who was a candidate for House of Assembly in his home town in Ukwa East, Abia State under the umbrella body of People Democracy Party (PDP) during the last election, lamented that many school graduates do not have jobs, some students cannot pay school fees, no scholarship for them.

“We have many graduates who don’t have jobs. We have students who want to go school but no parents to cater for their needs, no money to pay school fees, no scholarship”

“We will work hard to bring sponsorships for Deaf students to go to school. We will engage governments and stakeholders to give us employments”

He also called for massive support to ensure his victory in Kano.

The election will hold in Kano State from 26th to 30th September, the week Deaf community all over the world celebrate International Week Of The Deaf, where they celebrate their unique language and culture.
