The Suleja Emirate Deaf Development Association (SEDDA) has lamented the lack of employment opportunities as well as primary schools in the area to enable deaf persons integrate in their immediate society.
Chairman of SEDDA, Musa Mohammed spoke when he led other members of the Association on a courtesy visit to the Chief Executive Officer of Dream City, Yakubu Mohammed Katamba to applaud his efforts in community service/human development.
At the meeting, Mohammed outlined some of the challenges face by over two hundred (200) of their members to include lack of employment opportunities, access to educational institutions and neglect of deaf children.
According to him, over 100 deaf children are unable to enrol in primary schools because of inability of Government to provide a single class for them from any of the public schools.
He also said that neglect and stigmatization of deaf children and a host of others was fast becoming a challenge.
“I discussed the issue of lack of employment opportunities and education for the Deaf with him.
“He promised to spearhead a courtesy visit to the local government chairman to as a matter of urgency provide a classroom for the special needs and he also equally assured us to lead a delegation to see the National President of National Youth Council to see how the association can assist in terms of job opportunities.
“I believe that he will do his possible best to see the success of the challenges enumerated.

Responding, Katamba promised to spearhead a courtesy visit to the local government chairman to as a matter urgency provide a classroom for this persons with Disability leaders of tomorrow.
He also assured the SEDDA delegation that be would lead a delegation to see the National President of National Youth Council to see the best possible ways the association can assist in terms of job opportunities.
