Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has directed the distribution of the fifth round of food palliatives through local governments to vulnerable persons in various communities.
Commissioner for Information, Abia State, John Okiyi Kalu in a statement obtained by Inclusive News Network, INN, urged the relevant Transition Council Chairmen to visit the Food Bank located at the Office of the Wife of Governor, Government House, Umuahia, from Tuesday to get supplies for onward distribution to beneficiaries.
He said from 11am on Tuesday, August 11, Transition Council Chairmen of Aba North, Ukwa East, Obingwa, Umuahia North, Ikwuano, Umuahia South, Ohafia, Isuikwuato and Bende will be expected to visit the food bank.
Kalu also noted that on Wednesday, August 12, Transition Council Chairmen of Aba South, Osisioma , Ugwunagbo, Arochukwu , Umunneochi, Ukwa West, Isiala Ngwa North and Isiala Ngwa South will be permitted to collect the palliatives for distribution.
He also listed others invited to also visit the food warehouse to collect palliatives on any of the above dates to include members of Joint National Association of Persons Living with Disabilities (JONAPWD) who will be represented by the State Chairman, Comrade Stanley Onyebuchi and orphanages in the State which will also collect palliatives through the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Ukachi Amala.
Kalu urged the Transition Council Chairmen to follow Governor Ikpeazu’s directive to endeavor to emphasize distribution of this round of palliatives through recognized women groups in the communities while the Secretary to State Government, Barr Chris Ezem is expected to monitor compliance.
