The monarch made the call in Gusau, the State capital on Tuesday at a public hearing on the Disability Bill organized by the State House of Assembly Committee on Women and Children Affairs.

According to him, “learning to communicate in sign Language will enhance good communication and understanding between Government and Deaf people.

The Emir also noted that people with special needs deserved special treatment considering their situation. We should change from the traditional habit of neglecting them, Attahiru said.

“Majority of them have capacity to contribute in Governance and general development of the society.

“I am therefore appealing to government at all levels to include them in various political appointments”, the Emir concluded.
