Persons with disabilities in Abaji LGA Abuja have been charged not to see their predicament as a kiss of death but to accord greater attention to developing themselves and put their gifts and potentials to effective use for their common good, that of humanity and the society by the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre Jos.
The admonitions were made by the Director of the Centre, Chief Ayuba Burki while presenting 80 Wheelchairs to persons living with disabilities at Abaji Local Government Secretariat on Monday 1st November, 2021. He charged them to have positive mindset towards life and the society.
Chief Ayuba hinted that the gesture is aimed at easing the mobility challenge faced by the target individuals.
He admonished them not to allow their challenges stop them from attaining greatness and their full potentials at appreciable levels.
He pleaded with the Council Chairman to accord priority to persons with disabilities, carry them along in his policies, programmes and activities to give them sense of belonging.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the mobility appliances for the purpose for which they were provided to them.
Abaji Council’s Boss, Hon. Abdulrahman Ajiya applauded Beautiful Gate Centre for the humanitarian intervention and for identifying with the less privileged especially people living with disabilities.
He promise to carry persons living with disabilities along in his programme as well as empower them through human capital development avenues such as education and skill acquisition.
One of the Beneficiaries, Mr. Usman Saidu an Undergraduate of University of Abuja who couldn’t hide his joy lauded the Centre for the intervention saying it will ease the mobility challenges they are encountering.
