At the 16th anniversary celebration of Kpakpando foundation held today 30th October, 2021, the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons With Disabilities, Mr. James David Lalu identified with the founder and CEO Kpakpando foundation Senator Osita Izunazo for his doggedness in carrying on the needs of Persons With Disabilities in an altruistic manner.
The ES seized the occasion to give the account of the struggles of PWDs since the amalgamation of Nigeria in 1914 up until 2019 that the bill was signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari who took a distinct approach to issues of the disabled.
Lalu also appreciated the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi who has also signed into law the rights of PWDs.
He applauded the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Senator Chris Ngige, Senator Dino Melaye and other Civil Society groups that had come together in speaking with same voice in favor of the rights of PWDs.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Kayode Fayemi showed a high sense of solidarity and promised full support to the community of persons with Disabilities.
Earlier at the event, the founder and CEO of Kpakpando foundations distinguished Senator Osita Izunazor had offered free medical tests and Eye glasses to the guests.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of medal of honor and other rewards to the victorious Paralympians of Tokyo 2020 by the ES.
