The Joint National Association of Persons with Disability in Anambra State has restated its resolve to participate actively in the forthcoming November sixth governorship election.
The State Chairman of the Association, Comrade Ugochukwu Okeke made this known during an interactive forum between gubernatorial candidates and Persons with Disability at Amawbia.
Comrade Okeke explained that the forum was to know what the manifesto of the candidates has for Persons with Disability including inclusive government that will implement policies and programmes that consider marginalized groups’ involvement in policy formation to drive the implementation of an inclusive society.
Comrade Okeke who commended Governor Willie Obiano for the inclusion of persons with disability in his administration and for the establishment of Disability Rights Law, regretted that only two political parties were represented at the forum, urging the members to ensure they have their voter’s cards.
In his speech, the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA flag bearer Professor Chukwuma Soludo represented by the Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Disability Maters and Director Soludo Campaign Organization on Mobilization of Persons with Disability, Mr Chuks Ezewuzie re-assured them of continued inclusiveness and his vision to maintain and improve on the legacies of Governor Obiano while Senator Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress APC represented by a member of his campaign team Mr. Chukwuemeka Ezeukoma commended governor Willie Obiano for taking the affairs of the persons with disability as his priority.
The Public Relations Officer of the Association Comrade Ifeanyi Igwegbe said they want to meet with the candidates to present their chatter of demand for all-inclusiveness as their votes must count in November sixth governorship election in the State.
In a vote of thanks, the Legal Adviser of the association, Mr Peter Moneke thanked God for the successes of the programme though most of the candidates were absent urging the members not to be discouraged.
