Lalu Lauds National Assembly Over PWDs Inclusion In Governance

At a two-day retreat on PWDs inclusive policy held recently in Owerri, Imo State the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Mr. James David Lalu has expressed his gratitude to the members of National Assembly for championing the rights and welfare of Persons With Disabilities in Nigeria.

He disclosed this through the Media and Publicity Unit, (NCPWD), Mbanefo JohnMichaels I. on Thursday, 9th September, 2021

He said the community keeps growing in population from time to time.

“It’s estimated to be over 35 million and can no longer remain in that pitiable state in the society” he disclosed.

Lalu in addition, stated that the passage of the 2018 prohibition Act against the Discrimination of persons with disabilities and the recent constitutional review provided more opportunities for PWDs to participate in sensitive legislations and protection of their rights.

The ES thanked the organizers of the programme as he described them as ambassadors of the disability community.
