by Inclusive News Network

Persons With Disabilities in Anambra State have called for inclusion of its members in the November 6 Governorship elections in the State.

The chairman, Joint Association of Persons with Disabilities, (JONAPWD) Anambra State, Ugochukwu Ernest made this known at the PWDs Civic and Political Organizing Lab facilitated by Inclusive Friends Association, (IFA) Awka, on Tuesday.

Also speaking at the event, IFA’s Executive Director, Grace Jerry, tasked political parties in the State to be deliberate in producing their campaign materials to ensure they are in accessible formats to reach different clusters of PWDs, including braille forms, audio, sign language/subtitled videos, etc.

She urged parties to ensure that venues for meetings and campaign activities are accessible to all PWDs.

“This oversight function of the political parties can be facilitated through the National Assembly”, Jerry concluded.
