Miss Emily Osobase, a graduate of Banking and Finance from the prestigious University of Benin has been presented with a hearing aid. The assistive device was donated by one Mr. Endurance Osewenkhae, a South Africa based Edo State Indigene. Emily herself is from Edo State. The donor, who linked up with Edo Dynasty United Organization Worldwide, helped facilitate the procurement and shipment of the hearing aid from South Africa. INN learnt that the device worked perfectly fine for Emily.
Emily who admits not being completely deaf was visibly excited on receiving the piece auditory assistive technology. She says it will help balance her hearing.
“I am not totally deaf. Let’s just say my hearing loss is 50/50 or 60/40 percent. I just can’t hear correctly, besides, my hearing seem selective. For example, while I am good with light, sharp sound and deep voice, low sound is a no-no. So it’s really a huge excitement receiving the critical gift. I mean, I am simply overwhelmed with happiness to finally have a hearing aid that can balance it out. I am very happy”.
“You see, I didn’t really know about this Organization. Never did I hear of it until one Mr. Endurance Osemwenkhae got across to me on Facebook. He said he read an interview in the Punch Newspapers sometime in April last year, and had twice written to the Publishers to help contact me. Sadly, his mails went unanswered so he opted to trace me online via my name. When he asked if I was the person in question, I responded in the affirmative. That’s how we got talking. To the best of my knowledge, He also facilitated the process.”
Emily who said she had to start a little business about 3 months ago because she couldn’t get a job added that she wants to grow her business to the level envisioned.
“I would also love to go for my Msc, if possible, outside Nigeria. That also needs funding. I have dreams, but would need some help and push to bring them all to reality.”
Emily expressed appreciation to the Edo dynasty, Mr Osemwenkhae and everyone who made the precious gift possible. She advised members of the Deaf Community not to give up in their life pursuits.
