The Katsina State Police Command has paraded 15 wheelchairs allegedly sold out by beneficiaries of the recently launched Aminu Masari Empowerment Foundation in Katsina.

Spokesman of the command, SP Gambo Isah, while briefing newsmen at the command’s headquarters recalled that Governor Masari had donated about 200 wheelchairs to physically challenged persons in the state, with accompanying agreement on terms and conditions.

He announced that some of the stolen wheelchairs numbering 15, were recovered, adding that the receivers have been arrested.

He said: “The command is dismayed that wheelchairs bought by the state government at the cost of N150, 000 each, were sold at N7,000 only. This singular attitude is an example of several sabotages of government efforts by some citizens who received various empowerment programmes but decided to throw them away at ridiculous conditions.’’

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Physically Challenged Persons, Alhaji Rufai Zakka, thanked the Police Command for its effort, promising that the state government will strive to avoid a repeat of such incident.
