Association of Lepers (Integrated Divinity Economic Advancement) Ogun State chapter has alleged that the Matron of the organization refused to declare a ₦360,000 donation made by German Leprosy Relief Association (GLRA) as palliative support for COVID-19.

In a statement sent to INN, Chairman of the Association of Lepers (IDEA) Ogun State chapter, Jimoh Hammed explained that the organization (GLRA) has been in support of the group for over five decades, catering for their welfare and drugs but they stopped for sometimes for undisclosed reasons.

“But they stopped the project In 2015 and they used to support us sometimes”, Hammed said.

Hammed added that when the Coronavirus outbreak began, they wrote a memo requesting for palliative support from GLRA which was provided by the NGO to the tune of ₦360,000.

The money, he said was sent through the group’s Matron, S. Adelokiki.

“When Corona virus started we wrote memo for support for palliative from them and they send money to us through one of our officer which is #360,000.

“I was told they send the money to our matron,” Hammed said.

The group said despite the donation, none of their members received any amount from the distribution of palliative to cushion the effects of COVID-19.

“She didn’t give us any money out of it, I asked from headquarters in Enugu, they want to share it together. No one received the money among our members,” he lamented.

Hammed said when the group confronted the woman to ask for the money meant for them, she did not give them any positive response.

“After confrontation of the woman she called my secretary that only one person remain and the person should come and collect it but he refused.

The group, therefore, called for accountability of the palliative meant for them.

“Sir we demand for accountability of the money sent to Ogun State Lepers from GLRA as palliative support for Covid-19, we are the owner of the money,” he insisted.
