FG, UN Distribute Palliatives To Vulnerable Women, PWDs In Imo

Many indigent women in Imo State, including women with disabilities, women living with HIV, elderly and indigent head of households have benefitted from palliatives distributed by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs in collaboration with the United Nations Women.

A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer in the Ministry of Gender and Vulnerable Group, Onwuka V.O, noted that the first lady of the State, Barr Mrs Chioma Uzodimma made sure that Imo women got their fair share of the palliatives intended to cushion the effect of Covid-19, primarily occasioned by the period of the lockdown.

Onwuka noted that the Ministry of Gender and Vulnerable Group, on Thursday at the Imo State Secretariat, Port Harcourt Road, Owerri distributed the palliatives to the vulnerable women across the state.

Speaking during the distribution, Imo State Commissioner for Gender and Vulnerable Group, Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu appreciated the donors and promised Imolites that anything given to them through the ministry will be completely delivered to them.

The items shared include garri, beans, cartons of noodles, groundnut/red oil, detergents, condiments, face masks, among others.

Some of the beneficiaries who fielded questions from newsmen expressed overwhelming joy at the kind gesture of the donors, praying God to bless, protect and replenish their purse.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke include Joy Ndukwe from Obowo LGA, (Okigwe zone), Clement Precious from Orlu LGA (Orlu zone), Cecilia Achonu from Nwangele LGA (Orlu zone) and Tochi Nze from Owerri North LGA (Owerri zone), amongst others.
