Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has pledged his commitment to protect the interest of Northerners living in the State as well as Persons living with Disabilities (PWDs).
Uzodinma, spoke through his Senior Special Assitant to the Governor on Special Citizens, Charles Ebonuma who recieved members of the Northern Community on a courtesy visit to his office.
Ebonuma, who recieved the visitors alongside Hon Dr Samuelson Emehibe (JP), the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Citizens said the visit was aimed at building a good relationship between the Imolites and Northerners living with disabilities in order to carry the Northerners along.
According to him Nigeria is one and as such there should be no discrepancies and favouritism.
He commended Governor Uzodinma for considering the affairs of the Northerners living in the state and for taken proactive measures in giving them a sense of belonging.
Hon Emehibe, on his part, recalled that Imo present Governor is the only governor of Imo state that has appointed Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants since the integration of special citizens to the politics of Imo state.
He encouraged the disabled persons to live with hope and joy, adding that there is abilities in disability.
”A physically challenged person can be a senator, a governor or minister and anything God has destined him or her to be,” he said.
Leader of the delegation Hon Sulaiman Ibrahim Sulaiman, thanked the Governor for treating the Northerners in Imo state as a family.
He applauded Hon Charles for inviting the Northern Disabled persons to familiarize with them and understand their feelings, while promising to work in synergy with him to achieve a meaningful purpose.
Hon Charles gave the Northern disabled persons some money and kola then promised to include them in any empowerment or employment opportunity given to special citizens in the state.
According to him, this present Imo administration is that of shared prosperity, therefore the northern disabled persons are part and parcel of the administration because the government has not marginalize any segment of the society.
Other dignitaries present at the courtesy visit event were Hon, Chief Agugbue Odionyemma, Ochiriozuo, the Special Adviser to the governor on culture and tourism, Mr Bright Uzoma, the President General of Persons living with disabilities Imo state, Mr Christopher Kalu, President of the Blind Imo state, leaders of the Northern disabled persons, amongst others.
