2,240 Married, Disabled, Vulnerable Women receive N20, 000 FG Cash Grants for Rural Women Programme in Zamfara

No fewer than 2,240 women have benefited from the Federal Government Cash Grants for Rural Women Programme in Zamfara.

This was made known by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development of Nigeria, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farug, during the formal sharing of the Cash Grants for Rural Women Programme in Gusau, Friday.

The Minister, who was represented by the Technical Adviser on Conditional Cash Transfer and Cash Grants for Rural Women Programmes to the Minister, Abubakar Hashim, said 160 vulnerable women were carefully selected from each Local Government Council out of the 14 local government councils in Zamfara State to benefit from the Scheme.

According to the Minister, the Cash Grants for Rural Women Programme will touch the lives of rural women particularly women with disabilities, married women and vulnerable old women for them to start small scale business at home to get means of survival.

She further stated that, each woman will be given the sum of N20,000 Cash Grants, adding that the Programme will be sustain by the federal government under her ministry with a view to complement President Muhammadu Buhari readiness in alleviating poverty among poor Nigerians and creation of wealth among them to earn a living.
