NNAD Celebrates IDPWDs, Thanks PMB for Assenting to, and implementing the Disability Act through the NCPWDs

The Nigerian National Association of the Deaf (NNAD), while celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, thanked President Buhari for signing and implementing the Disability Act by constituting a Commission with its Board and the Executive Secretary.

The commemoration was marked at Panorama Park Gardens, off Tamara Guest House, Beside NHIS FCT, Wuse Zone 3 Abuja.

In a speech delivered by the Executive President, Hon Chidi Topaz Olujie, he said, “IDPWDs is a day we celebrate disability as part of human diversity. It is a day for us all. A day that is set aside to appreciate efforts made in the disability community and to keep the world around us alert of where the shoe pinches.

Represented by the Vice President, Hon Haruna Muhammad, Asking for corporations, Olujie said “It is our rights, our pride and our identity. We need the support of everyone, including the government and the corporate world to help advance and promote our rights at all levels.

NNAD is an incorporated association in charge of the general affairs of all Deaf Nigerians. It is saddled with the responsibility of advancing and promoting the rights of deaf Nigeria.

Olujie added “We wholeheartedly appreciate President Muhammadu Buhari for assenting to the long-awaited Bill (now an Act) of the Persons with Disabilities and for implementing the Act by constituting a Commission with its Board and Executive Secretary.

“We want to enlighten the general public on our efforts to ensure a better Nigerian Deaf Community as part of our post-Covid-19 world.
