TheseAbilities Women and Youth Empowerment Initiative has sensitized women with Disabilities on access to Inclusive healthcare services delivery in its year long project.
The two-day project with support from Disability Rights Fund aimed at equipping these women leaders with advocacy skills and knowledge of their rights to inclusive healthcare services.
Participants were armed with better understanding of their rights and how to go about demanding for these rights. At the end of the training, the new rights advocacy champions were ready for the uphill task ahead.
Disability Rights Fund – Nigeria Program Officer Mr. Theophilus Adaudu, who was on ground to offer guidance as well as cover several topics, encouraged participants to be dedicated, determined and persistent even when results are not encouraging.
The CEO, TAWYE, Mr. Ronald Magaji, in his closing remarks after the workshop noted that this is the first major grant project being implemented by TAWYE. He appreciated the DRF Officer for not only honouring TAWYE’s invitation but also serving as a resource person.
The group had kicked off it’s preliminary activities with a town hall meeting in Jalingo on 12th November, 2020, where women leaders from the various disability clusters were sensitized about the project and a baseline survey conducted to ascertain the level of exposure and current access to healthcare services by women with disabilities.
