The Nigerian National Association of the Deaf (NNAD) has frowned at the petitions levied against the recent appointment of Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Hon. James Lalu.

NNAD President, Chidi Olujie in his ‘letter of disclaimer’ released on Sunday said “Our attention has been drawn to some unwarranted petitions against Hon. James Lalu. As the National Cluster representing the Nigerian Deaf Community, we have unanimously and wholeheartedly rejected such petitions.”

While appreciating President Muhammadu Buhari for such remarkable and historic appointment, Olujie added “We dissociate the Deaf Cluster from such actions that would disrupt the implementation of the Disability Act which is in the interest of Deaf people in particular and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in general.”
