NNAD President-Elect, Chidi Olujie Receives Abia Disability Bill From Abia State House of Assembly

Chidi Olujie, the president-elect of Nigeria National Association of the Deaf (NNAD) and Founder of Chidi Topaz Olujie Foundation (CTO) has received a copy of the Abia State Disability Bill as birthday gift from the Deputy Majority Leader, Abia State House of Assembly and Representative Ukwa-East Constituency, Abia State house of assembly, Hon. Paul Taribo.

The Disability bill, according to a statement, is being deliberated in the House of Assembly for possible amendment and had scaled the second reading in the Abia State House of Assembly.

Abia State is among states that has not passed its Disability Bill into law.

Olujie had also organised a youth football league event and scholarship awards for youths of Ukwa East Constituency of Abia state in 2020 edition of the annual Chidi Topaz Olujie’s birthday competition for Ukwa East Youths tagged, “Youth lives matter, a positive approach to sustainable development”

Having received a copy of the Disability bill, Olujie expressed excitement and referred to it as the best birthday gift.

“Amongst the best Birthday Gift I received was a copy of the Abia State Disability Bill that has scaled the second reading stage in the Abia State House of Assembly.”

“Congratulations to us all in Abia as we join the growing list of states in Nigeria with the disability bill’s successful passage.”

Akwete FC emerged champions of the 2020 Edition of Chidi Topaz Olujie Ukwa East Youth Football League and carted away the prize as winners of the competition. There were also prize for the runner-up, 3rd place and other consolation prizes. Scholarship grants were also awarded to at least 20 students of the Ukwa-East Constituency to assist with their education.

Among the dignitaries at the event were the Deputy Majority Leader, Abia State House of Assembly and Representative Ukwa-East Constituency, Hon. Paul Taribo, Chair of the board of Albertiqs Foundation and Special Adviser on Diaspora to the Governor of Imo State, Hon. Celia Osakwe-Hibbert, Patron of Chidi Topaz Olujie Foundation, Sir. Topaz Olujie, among others.
