The Executive Director, Freky Andy, talked on the importance of health and prevention of many infections for persons with disabilities in this COVID 19 era.
In an interview with Inclusive News Network, INN Ndifreke ‘Freky’ Andrew-Essien asserted “health is wellness and self care is important for the prevention of many infections. Lessons learnt from COVID 19 are important for PWDs and at this stage it is important to do the little things on order to avoid big problems.”
Freky Andy as she’s fondly known continued saying, “We are reminding ourselves that our protection is in our hands and we as PWDs must take responsibility in taking care of ourselves. Simple things like hand washing, cleaning our assistive devices are important part of our daily living.”
The foundations is training women with Disabilities on liquid soap production as added value.
She added that the idea will also help them have another stream of income should they decide to pursue it as a small business or add it to an existing one especially in this COVID recovery era.
“For PWDs taking responsibility for ones health is important. Do what is within your powers to do. Wash your hands, use a sanitizer don’t be careless about your self care.”
“For Organisations Government and Private do consider PWDs in relief plans and strategies in this COVID era. Ensuring inclusion in all interventions,” Freky added.
