Office of the Governor on Disability Matters (OGDM) has verified Cooperative Societies owned by Persons with Disability in readiness to access credit facility being expected from the government through Anambra Small Business Agency (ASBA).
Speaking during the sensitization/verification program held at Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, the special adviser to Governor on disability matters-Bar.Chuks Ezewuzie commended all the local governments that have been able to group themselves into cooperative societies and reminded them that numerous opportunities await those that have started something.
Anambra State Chairman, Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities (JONAPWD), Comrade Ugochukwu Okeke added by stressing the need for all the Cooperative Societies present at the event to be vibrant and active with whatever they have ventured into.
He also stated that the loan being expected from ASBA is part of the many programs the Governor Willie Obiano has in stock to better the lives of Persons with Disability and emphasized that the loan is meant for the serious and active cooperative societies that are ready to utilize the opportunity, make profits from it and ready to pay back at the stipulated time without stress.
He urged them to take back home the message of seriousness and diligent as that will be a yard stick to qualify for government interventions and as well increase government and other stakeholders believe that there are many abilities in disabilities which will pave ways for more interventions that will benefit the entire disability community.
Ugo adviced those that has no project at hand to contribute and venture into something profitable and not just relied on government loans alone. He also tasked the chairmen of each Cooperative Society to make sure that their ventures are functional as the OGDM has commensed a sensitization tour to all 21 local government and will cease
