Lagos state on Sunday, May 10 discharged 21 COVID-19 patients from its various isolation centres. This was announced by the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, via his social media pages.
The governor wrote: “Today, 21 COVID-19 patients; 4 females and 17 males, all Nigerians have been discharged from our isolation facilities to reunite with the society. “The patients, 3 from Onikan, 1 from Eti-Osa, 1 from First Cardiology Hospital, 6 from Lekki and 10 from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) isolation centres were discharged today having fully recovered and tested negative to COVID-19 in two consecutive test readings.
“With this, the total number of cases successfully managed and discharged from our isolation facilities has risen to 469.
“The discharge of COVID-19 patients is encouraging but we must continue to practice hand hygiene, wear a mask and physically distance ourselves when outdoors.
“If we continue to do the right things and obey the stipulated public health safety guidelines, together we can break the chain of transmission of COVID-19.”
Lagos has been leading the way in taking care of COVID-19 patients with Governor Sanwo-Olu providing leadership when it is needed the most.
Meanwhile, as the Lagos government makes effort in ensuring the state is COVID-19 free, some residents in the state seem to be disobeying the safety directives and precautions issued by the government.
Governor Sanwo-Olu has warned that he will impose another lockdown on the state if residents continue to violate guidelines on social distancing.
He issued the warning on Saturday, May 9, when giving updates on the management of COVID-19 and review of the lockdown in the state.
The governor said if the state government does not see an improvement in the adherence to public health guidelines over the next couple of days, it will not hesitate to review the terms on easing of the COVID-19 lockdown.
