At the inauguration of the committee on the implementation and institutionalization of the strategic roadmap and coordinating framework of the Fed Min of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development held on Thursday, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Nasir Sani Gwarzo has again encouraged all MDAs, and Ministries to embrace working with Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria, which is one of the key priorities of the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons With Disabilities, Mr. James David Lalu.
The Permanent Secretary said “the visually impaired secretary attached to him by the National Commission For Persons With Disabilities has all it takes and the abilities, capabilities everyone will need as a secretary.”
While appreciating the hardworking staff, Gwarzo encouraged parents of children with disabilities to embrace training their children and enrolling them in schools so that the natural skills they came to the world with will not be wasted.
Dr Gwarzo further maintained that it will be made mandatory for every agency to work with NCPWD in order to have Persons with Disabilities working at the agencies and be given technical assignment.
Mr Adewale Olasoji Ebenezer, the Director Planning, Research and Statistics, National Commission for Persons With Disabilities while making his contribution at the meeting appreciated the support the Commission has been getting from the ministry.
He further assured the Permanent Secretary that the Commission will make its input in the strategic road map as directed.
