Husseini Kabiru Omele, Senior Special Assistant on Disability matters to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has called for interventions for some Persons with Disabilities who are affected by the continual flooding in Lokoja, the State capital, yesterday.
Speaking to some Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and other victims of the flood during the visit, the SSA on disability matters who was on his first assignment said the victims need Disability friendly interventions from the Government.
Omele was unable to hold back his tears looking at the devastation to homes and properties caused by the flood.
Of course, not only PWDs are affected. Every member of the communities felt the impact of the flood one way or the other, and going by the current high cost of living, victims may hardly survive the disaster without some form of Government/Private intervention.
The SSA, while assuring the flood victims of the State Government’s support also called for support from philanthropists and well meaning Nigerians to help the victims in this trying time.
Omele says he is an ardent believer in God’s Providence and the Kogi State Governor’s commitment to the well being of everyone, especially PWD communities in the State.
INN reports that thousands have been rendered homeless by this natural disaster (flooding) ravaging some States across the Country.
