by Inclusive News Network

The leadership of Gombe state Association of the Deaf, GOMSAD, has urged Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the Executive Governor of Gombe state to establish an Agency for Persons with Disabilities to facilitate the overall progress and development of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the state.

In a statement signed by the GOMSAD Secretary General, Mal Yusuf Mohammed Lawan, he said Gov. Yahaya had two years ago promised to establish an agency for persons with disabilities so as to cater for their welfare and give them a sense of belonging”

He pointed out that the Governor’s remarks were equally published in some of the national dailies and corroborated by the DG Press Affairs Ismaila Uba Misilli in several posts on social media”

However, nothing has been done since the group paid courtesy visit to the state governor at government house during the international day of persons with disabilities two years ago.

The secretary appeals governor Yahaya to redeem his pledge as this will go a long way in ameliorating the lives of PWDs.

“While appreciating His Excellency for the infrastructural development achieved within a short spell we sincerely appeal to His Excellency to look into the sorrowful plights of PWDs in Gombe state.

“We believe in His Excellency’s stance for truth, justice and equality which are the qualities that endeared him to many people in the state”. He said.
