FAECARE Foundation has trained it’s board, staff and volunteers on safeguarding, and all associated policies with support from Disability Rights Fund (DRF).
The one day organisational development workshop focused on training members on safeguarding, prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment, risk assessment and management and culminated in a one week policy formation process.
Speaking on the training, the Executive Director, Ndifreke Andrew-Essien said “the training was essential in ensuring that FAECARE staff and associated personel understood how crucial it is for them to prevent and protect themselves and target groups we serve from sexual exploitation, abuse and other associated risk factors”
According to testimonials from other training participants, “we were able to identify some risk factors that could actually impede our work in the social environment, our target audience and communities.
“And we found out ways to mitigate these risk factors, like actually reporting to appropriate quarters the risks that we identified.”
At the end of the event and following consultative sessions with the trainer, Janet Ifunanya Anaele l, the foundation created several policies, these include Safeguarding Policy, PSEAH Policy, Safeguarding Policy Code of Conduct, Disclosure of malpractice in workplace Policy and Safeguarding/PSEAH Focal Point
The director while expressing excitement over the development said “this capacity has added to us as an organisation and added to our existing policies and procedures as an organisation.”
