The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has in a congratulatory award presented to Lois Auta complimented her on her appointment as the presidential high level advisory council on support to women and girls in Nigeria.
The award presented in a glassy plaque also had a message from the president thanking Lois Auta for her service to empower women and girls.
Speaking to Inclusive News Network in an interview after receiving the award, the CEO of Cedar Seed Foundation, Ms Lois Auta thanked the presidency for the award. She however assured that women and girls will be empowered economically through opportunity created by the presidency and other key actors.
“I feel good, I feel proud, and I am excited about this award because it is timely, it is unique and special. This award is important not just about me but about women and girls with disabilities. They will be empowered economically through this opportunity created by the presidency and other key actors.
Auta said with the new platform, there will be opportunities for investment creation that will provide enabling environment for women with disabilities to thrive independently.
She called for support to ensure its success.
She thanked her support systems, mentors, mentees, colleagues, and enablers of her success for all their supports.
The CEO also appreciated the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen for her unalloyed support for women and girls disabilities globally. “Huge thanks to our Modern Mother-General” she said.
INN reports that the High-Level Advisory Council (HLAC) are responsible to provide technical advice, bringing in collective experience and expertise and perspectives, provide strategic advice to the Federal Government of Nigeria, generate buy-in for the gender mainstreaming and collaborate with key actors to empower women and girls with emphasis to women and girls with disabilities.
President Muhammadu Buhari, had on 22nd December, 2022, approved the formation of a Presidential High-Level Advisory Counci! (HLAC) to support Nigerian Women and Girls to fill this critical gap. It is envisioned that the HLAC will be a standing Presidential Committee that outlives the current administration and works to drive action towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal- 5, between now and 2030.
