Bauchi State's First Lady, Hajia Aishatu Mohammed and her entourage ministering to the needs of PWDs as Ramadan fastings comes to an end

Her excellency, the First Lady of Bauchi State, Hajiya Dr. Aishatu Lami Bala Mohammed, in company of Hon. Brisca Joram Aaron (Executive Secretary, Bauchi State Agency for Persons With Disabilities), the Bauchi State Deputy Governor’s wife, and other high profile women, yesterday distributed clothing materials and foodstuffs to five cluster associations under the State Agency for Persons Living With Disabilities for this year’s Eid el-Fitr celebrations.

The benefiting associations include The Association of Physical Disabilities, the Deaf Association, The Association of the Blind, The Spinal Cord Injury Union, and the Leprosy Association, all in Bauchi State.

While presenting the items to the associations, the first lady described them as special people who deserved special care and attention from the government and NGOs. She also promised to work with the Agency for Persons With Disabilities to help train and empower People with special needs (disabled) through her NGO, Almuhibbat foundation. She lady believes doing so will make them self reliant and shun street begging.

On their part, the various associations of Persons with Disabilities expressed their profound gratitude to her excellency and the Government of Bauchi State for remembering people with special needs by re-establishing the Agency for persons with disabilities and appointing competent persons to run the affairs of the agency.

They also appreciated the first lady for the kind gesture, describing her as the “the Mother of disabled in Bauchi’. Also, prayers were offered on for God’s grace and protection over the administration of Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.

In her remarks, the Executive Secretary of the agency, Hon. Brisca J. Aaron thanked the Executive Governor of Bauchi State for always listening to the requests of the disabled in the state and described his government as the government that cares so much about the disabled.

She further (on behalf of the agency) expressed their gratitude to the first lady for the kind gesture shown to Persons with Disabilities. Conclusively, she urged the various associations under her watch to do justice while sharing the items to their members.
