South-East Association of the Deaf (SENDA) has inaugurated a BOT Committee.
The new committee is to resume its constitutionally assigned duties in line with the Constitution. Its primary assignment is to assist the association’s Executive to position SENDA for optimized service delivery and advancement of good governance in the South-East Deaf Community.
The Zonal Co-ordinator, ZC, Hon Iheanacho Fortune disclosed this in a statement signed by SENDA, Zonal Public Relations Co-ordinator, Okoroafor Gideon, on Sunday.
The broad of Trustees members are : Sir Clement Abonyi – BOT Chairman, Hon Joy Tony Chukwu – Secretary General, Hon Rev Promise Nwode – Member, Hon Carol Onu, – Member, Hon John Ezogunwa – Member, Hon Catherine Edeh-nnadi – Member, and Hon Arc. George Melikam – Member.
Fortune said the BOT committee was constituted to keep the Executive on their feet in line with campaign promises as well as to position SENDA administration on excellent service delivery and efficient governance of the South-East Deaf Community. In summary, the goal is to actualize SENDA’s sound vision and agenda for optimal positive impact on living standards of the Deaf community.
The constitution also authorizes the BOT committee to oversee and support SENDA’s executive decisions on structure and operations of SENDA service delivery without unnecessary interventions.
Other terms of reference according to the Zonal Coordinator includes making recommendations that would help the ZC and other Executives to position SENDA administration in positive light, meanwhile improving transparency and co-ordination in its business process. The committee also aim to strengthen responsiveness of other appointed committees. It ensures that the administration delivers on its electoral promises and enter into positive partnerships/relationships.
While appreciating members of the BOTs on behalf of the executives for their acceptance to serve SENDA, Fortune expressed confidence that they have the wealth of experience, expertise and commitment to add value to the current deaf administration and Governance of the South-East region.
