National Commission for Persons With Disabilities has reaffirmed it’s commitment to support The Nigerian Blind Community in commemoration of International White Cane Day.

The executive secretary, James Lalu made the call while discussing accessibility challenges and other critical issues affecting the blind in company of the Chairman, National Association of the Blind, FCT chapter, Mr. Obinna Ekwujene on NTA on Friday.

Mr. Lalu, while highlighting the challenges faced by blind persons in accessing transportation, digital tools, public buildings and other public spaces, further reiterated the importance of collaboration between the commission and the blind community in a bid to finding practical and effective solutions to the challenges identified.

He seized the opportunity to reaffirm the commitment and support of NCPWD towards promoting and improving accessibility for the Nigerian Blind community.

He also assured the community of on-going efforts to make significant impact by expanding the reach of accessibility tools and facilities.
