A non governmental organization, Seed Abraham Foundation has distributed relief materials for over 100 vulnerable people and persons with disabilities in Ile-Ife, Osun State, geared towards cushioning the effect of hunger plaguing residents in the ancient community.
The NGO, also known as Children Of Abraham Home For The Needy, had targeted over 100 aged, widows, the poor, beggars (street and hawkers) and persons with disabilities and gave out relief packages twice within 15 days of its commencement.
INN learnt that the items distributed include cash, Rice, Noodles, Beans, Garri, Biscuits, Vegetables, Matches, Grandnut oil and Palm Oil.
Executive Director, Queen Esther Toba in a chat with INN said the organization has been in operation for over 5years but, started the foundation and the school in 2017.
“COVID-19 give away today (12th May), we did this again after the one we did in the last 15days,” she said.
On what inspired the gesture, she said, “People are hungry, the government refuse to help, even the wealthy ones in the society has abandoned the poor. People kept knocking on my door everyday for help. Is not only COVID-19 that kills, HUNGER also kills”.
Toba, who is also the official sign interpreter for the Ooni of Ife, added that she is doing the little she can to provide palliatives to the vulnerable groups.
She used the opportunity to call on well meaning Nigerians to support the gesture as more people have indicated interest to benefit from the items but the relief materials available are not enough to go round. She can be contacted through her number 08117499998.
