The Ethiopian airline, flyethopian, has presented Grace Jerry, the Executive Director of Inclusive Friends Association, with a brand new wheelchair as a compensation for her wheelchair whose foot-hold was lost in transit on her way from Johannesburg in South Africa at the Abuja international airport earlier reported by INN.
Officials of the airline, in a show of solidarity, presented the new wheelchair as an augment for the damaged one earlier today. It could be recalled that Grace was grounded at the Abuja airport for over three hours, no thanks to the missing foot-hold of her wheelchair.
INN learnt that the representatives of the airline after presenting Grace with the new wheelchair apologised for the inconveniences caused and promised to be more careful next time.
The representatives also assured that Ethiopian airline is committed and ready to work with Inclusive Friends Association and make Grace an Ambassador to be able to serve the PWD community better.
While receiving the brand new wheelchair, Grace, with face beaming with smile, appreciated the gesture and used the medium to call for a proper treatment of persons with disabilities by airline operators.
“It’s about time air companies begin to treat persons with disabilities with dignity as they would to any customers”, the elated Grace said.
Ethiopian airline had recently grounded Grace for over three hours at Abuja International airport after it misplaced the foot-rest of her wheelchair.
The scenerio attracted widespread condemnation from the community of persons with disability over the lackadaisical handling of Grace ordeal.
